Uzbekistan continues to expand capacity of external Internet channel

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is continuing to expand capacity of international Internet channel, the deputy director-general of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) Asad Khodjaev said at the ICT Summit in 2010 in Tashkent.

Khodjaev said that total capacity of internet channel made up 1580 Mbs as of 1 July 2010. He said that the capacity will be expanded by 1.5-2 times.

He said that that demand of internet service providers will be satisfied with advanced rates. The UzACI official said that the growth of the capacity will make up 2-3 times a year.

Asad Khodjaev said that Uzbektelecom and local Internet providers are working on achievement of this goal.

He added that that the measures on providing affordable Internet for population. He said that the Internet price decreased from US$1.46 in the early 2001 to US$0.25 in the early 2010.
