Uzbekistan constructs over 1,000 km of optic-fibre networks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan carried out construction and reservation of over 1,050 km of fiber-optic broadband networks in the first half of 2015, a publication of the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

In the first half of 2015, the country continued to implement a programme on development of telecommunication technologies, network and infrastructure of communication for 2013-2020.

Within the program since the beginning of the year Uzbekistan carried out construction and reservation 1050 km of fiber-optic broadband networks and complete implementation of the 38 projects on the automation of production and management processes in the 20 joint-stock companies, associations and large industrial enterprises.

The number of providers and operators providing services in the field of information and communication technologies, reached 800 and more than 290 companies operate in the area of software production.

It should be noted that under the Investment Program for 2015, Uzbekistan plans to build 1,800 rm of fiber-optic networks.
