Uzbekistan constructs and reconstructs 303.5km of roads
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan carried out 303.5 km automobile roads, which are part of the Uzbek national highway, were constructed and reconstructed in nine months of 2012 within the implementation of programme “On speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication for 2011-2015”. The joint statement of the Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan on social-economic development of Uzbekistan in nine months of 2012 said.

The material said that 58 km of roads with cement-concrete pavement and 245.5 km of asphalt-concrete pavement were constructed or reconstructed.

Within the implementation of projects on modernization on further development of railway industry, some US$205.3 million capital investments were used. Some 186 km of railroads were rehabilitated. About 372 cargo and 13 passenger wagons were constructed in nine months of 2012. The country also purchased three passenger locomotives. Works on electrification of Marakand-Karshi and Karshi-Termez railroads have been conducted.

In order to update airplanes fleet and develop infrastructure of air transport, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari started to use two new Boeing 767-300ER airplanes. It also reconstructed passenger terminal in Navoi Airport. In nine months of 2012, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari transported almost 2 million passengers, which grew by 13.5% year-on-year.
