Uzbekistan considers accession to Apostille convention
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Parliament of Uzbekistan will consider a draft law on accession of the country to Convention abolishing the requirement for legalization for foreign public documents.

The press service of the Legislative Chamber said that fraction of Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival) discussed the draft law “On accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Hague, 5 October 1961)”.

The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents is an international treaty drafted by the Hague Conference on Private International Law. The document was signed in Hague on 5 October 1961.

It specifies the modalities through which a document issued in one of the signatory countries can be certified for legal purposes in all the other signatory states. Such a certification is called an apostille (French: certification). It is an international certification comparable to a notarisation in domestic law.
