Uzbekistan commissions 170 small enterprises in 1Q 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan commissioned 170 small enterprises in the first quarter of 2011, the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee said in a joint material.

In particular, the country launched 23 small enterprises in textile industry, 49 – in construction materials industry, 75 – food industry, 2 - leather-shoe industry and 21 in other industries.

The growth of industrial production in small businesses made up 17.8% in the reporting period, which is significantly high compared to average in industry.

The commercial banks issued loans for over 865.9 billion soums in the reporting period, including 159.8 billion soums of microloans, which is 1.4 times up year-on-year.

Within the state programme “The Year of Small Business and Private Entrepreneurship”, Uzbekistan adopted complex legal and organizational measures directed at creating favourable conditions and business climate for small businesses and private entrepreneurship.

In particular, small businesses received access to public procurement and the justice bodies launched hotlines, the government decreased number of inspections.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed decree, which banned tax inspection of small businesses from 1 April 2011 to 1 April 2014, which timely pay taxes and mandatory payments, as well as submitting reports.

The measures on expanding access of small businesses to raw materials helped to increase the volume of purchased raw materials through exchanged by 1.5 times. The volume of realized products, produced by small businesses, through exchanges increased 1.8 times. The share of small businesses in total exchange turnover made up 82%.
