Uzbekistan claim a draw against Jordan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan forward Igor Sergeev took his individual tally to a 2012 AFC U-19 Championship leading four after scoring another double as the Central Asians twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Jordan in their Group C encounter on Tuesday.

Jordan deservedly took the lead in the 49th minute through Fadi Mahmoud Awad but Uzbekistan hit back into the match after forward Igor Sergeev converted a penalty in the 60th minute.

Sardor Rakhmanov's own goal five minutes later looked to have given Jordan all three points but Sergeev struck in stoppage-time to earn a share of the spoils with his fourth of the campaign following a brace in Uzbekistan's 4-0 win over Vietnam on Sunday.

Uzbekistan, who are aiming for a continental youth double after claiming the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship, were surprisingly lacklustre in the opening exchanges with the Jordanians having the best of the first-half chances.

Asilbek Amanov had to be alert to punch clear Ahmad Nawaf's in-swinging corner in the 9th minute as Jordan laid down an early marker of their attacking intent while the only real chance for the Uzbeks in the first-half came in the 28th minute but Jordan defender Amer Omar did well to deny Abdul Aziz Yusupov a scoring opportunity from Jamshid Iskanderov's cross.

Jordan, who missed a couple of chances in the first-half, took the lead five minutes after the interval when Awad was able to get the final touch on the ball during a goalmouth melee created by Rajaei Ayed's dangerous free-kick.

Uzbekistan were given a glorious chance to get back on level terms on the hour mark when UAE referee Mohamed Abdelkarim adjudged that midfielder Omar Khalil had handled Timur Khakimov's cross inside the area and awarded the Central Asians a penalty.

Sergeev confidently dispatched the spot-kick, with Jordan keeper Noureddin Zaid guessing the wrong way, as Uzbekistan got back on level terms but parity would be short-lived.

Just five minutes after Sergeev had swept home his third of the tournament Jordan regained their lead with the help of Rakhmanov, whose attempted headed clearance landed in his own net.

The 2008 AFC U-19 Championship runners-up were not going down without a fight and Jordan had keeper Zaid to thank for preserving their advantage with a string of superb saves but Uzbekistan's pressure finally paid off in stoppage time when Sergeev out-jumped everyone in a crowded penalty area to head home Iskanderov's free-kick despite the best efforts of a Jordanian defender on the goal line.
