Uzbekistan - China: Strengthening Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 September 2024, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismailov met with members of a delegation led by Chen Min’er, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee.

During the dialogue, the delegation was provided with detailed information on the priority tasks outlined in the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy, ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, efforts to implement the new version of the Constitution, and key activities of the Legislative Chamber.

Chen Min’er emphasized that Uzbekistan and China are strategic partners, with their relations built on mutual friendship, fraternity, and good-neighborliness. He praised the effectiveness of the large-scale reforms being implemented under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership and highlighted the importance of further developing mutually beneficial ties between the regions.

The meeting noted that high-level dialogues between the leaders of the two countries have elevated Uzbekistan-China relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Important agreements were reached during the state visits in January this year to Beijing and in July to Astana, defining new directions for bilateral relations.

It was emphasized that there are ample opportunities for further activation and expansion of cooperation in various fields. Discussions also focused on developing interregional ties, "green technologies," digitalization, improving urban infrastructure and communications, and advancing environmental protection efforts.

On the same day, the Chinese delegation met with the leaders of political party factions in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

Chen Min’er noted that relations between the governments, parliaments, and regions of the two countries are rapidly developing. He also highlighted that the Communist Party of China has established close ties with over 170 political parties in more than 130 countries, including five political parties in Uzbekistan, and is keen to further strengthen these relationships.

During the dialogue, the guest informed that the third plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of the 20th Congress was held in Beijing from July 15-18 this year. The session adopted a decision aimed at deepening reforms based on national principles and the comprehensive development of the country’s economy.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen relations between the Communist Party of China and the political parties of Uzbekistan.
