Uzbekistan, China discuss development of trade-economic ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First meeting of subcommittee on trade-economic and investment cooperation of the Uzbek-Chinese intergovernmental committee on cooperation was held in Tashkent on 28 March.

Representatives of ministries and departments, companies and organizations, working in various sectors of economy, participated at the meeting.

Minister of foreign economic relations, investments and trade of Uzbekistan and co-chair of the subcommittee Elyor Ganiyev said at the meeting that cooperation between Uzbekistan and China is gradually developing in all spheres, including in the trade and economic and investment sector.

Deputy Minister of Commerce and co-chair of the subcommittee Jiang Yaopin said that China pays special attention to development relations with Uzbekistan.

He said that China is one of important trade partners of Uzbekistan and one of the largest investors to the country. The sides are developing ties in all spheres, including oil and gas, as well as exploration area. He said China is interested in further developing trade-economic relations with Uzbekistan and lift ties to new level

At the meeting, the Chinese side got acquainted with privatization process in Uzbekistan, reforms in the country to develop economy, created favorable conditions for investors, including at the Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on development of economic ties, implementation of joint ventures, financial and technical cooperation, and establishment of direct contacts.

The most favorable mode of nation treatment operates between Uzbekistan and China in the economic sphere. The volume of mutual trade turnover made US$2.596 billion in 2011. Some382 joint enterprises with the Chinese capital and 65 representative companies operate in Uzbekistan.
