Uzbekistan, China discuss development of bilateral ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 December, the 16th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and China was held in Beijing.

Delegations of the two countries led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Zhang Hanhui exchanged views on the state and prospects of development of interstate relations, discussed priority areas of cooperation within the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international structures.

The parties conducted a detailed review of implementation of the agreements reached during Uzbekistan – China summits, negotiations between government delegations, business circles, representatives of cultural and humanitarian sphere of the two countries.

Special attention was paid to the schedule and agenda of joint events planned for 2019 with participation of heads of states, including within the framework of the second international forum “One Belt, One Road”.

Summing up the bilateral relations in trade-economic sphere in 2018, the parties noted with satisfaction their dynamic and mutually beneficial nature. In January-October, the trade turnover exceeded 5 billion USD, whereas in 2017 this figure amounted to US$5 billion.

The parties also considered other issues of mutual interest.

The delegation of Uzbekistan attended the sixth meeting of the Subcommittee on Security Cooperation of Uzbekistan – China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee.
