Uzbekistan-China: cooperation is developing at all levels

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the city of Urumqi as part of a working visit to the People’s Republic of China.

Today, on 9 October, in Urumqi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov held a meeting with member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, secretary of the party committee of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), Ma Xingrui.

As noted, as a result of regular dialogues, mutual visits and meetings of the heads of our states, the centuries-old friendship between our peoples has brought relations in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres to a completely new level.

In recent years, cooperation between countries has been developing not only at the level of states and governments, but also at the regional level.

At the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan and China are interested in further expanding cooperation in this direction. XUAR occupies a special place in strengthening relationships and increasing trade volumes.

Today, modern technologies, equipment and other products are imported into our country from this region of China. In turn, Uzbekistan exports textiles, copper, mineral fertilizers, agricultural products, etc. to the XUAR.

In addition, there is an opportunity to develop mutual cooperation in smart agriculture.

At a high-level meeting held in Xi’an in May of this year, agreements were reached on investment projects with a total value of about US$25 billion.

Today, within the framework of this agreement with a number of XUAR enterprises, promising projects are being implemented in metallurgy, energy, agriculture and other areas.

Another important aspect of the XUAR for Uzbekistan is that this territory is the main link in the transport and logistics system between our countries.

In this direction, the need for joint work to accelerate the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was emphasized.

In addition to existing transport corridors, special attention was paid to the importance of developing multimodal transport corridors “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan” and “China-Tajikistan-Uzbekistan”.

The prospects for further development of cooperation in science, education, personnel training, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere were considered.

Also, as part of the visit of the delegation of the government of Uzbekistan to XUAR, meetings were held with the leaders of Xinjiang Hualing Industry & Trade Group, China Southern Power Grid, China National Chemical Engineering, Amer International Group, TBEA and other large Chinese companies. Bilateral meetings were held to further develop cooperation.
