Uzbekistan, China agree to develop contacts
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First session of Intergovernmental committee on cooperation between Uzbekistan and China was held in Beijing on 26 October 2011.

The committee was created in line with the achieved agreements between the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of China Hu Jintao, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The main aims and tasks of the committee is to coordinate and boost multipronged bilateral cooperation between two states.

Created six sub-committees, cover key directions of the Uzbek-Chinese cooperation, should lift level of effective implementation of current projects, open new opportunities to deepen relations between two nations.

The committee was co-chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov and the member of the Chinese State Council Meng Jianzhu. During the meeting, the sides achieved agreement on further developing contacts between bodies of two states, expanding mutual beneficial relations in trade-economic, investment, financial-technical, energy, cultural humanitarian, security, transport, tourism, etc.

The sides signed several bilateral agreements on oil and gas, chemistry and banking-financial sectors, energy and trade of high-quality goods.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held a meeting with the Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping.
