Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s chess players secured victories in the second round of the FIDE Chess Olympiad, currently being held in Budapest.
The Uzbek men’s team delivered a commanding performance, defeating Egypt with a score of 3.5-0.5. Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Shamsiddin Vokhidov, and Nodirbek Yakubboev won their respective matches, while Javokhir Sindarov ended his game in a draw.
The Uzbek women’s team also claimed victory, overcoming Angola with a 3-1 score. Afruza Khamdamova, Umida Omonova, and Marjona Malikova secured wins, although Nilufar Yakubboeva was unfortunately unable to win her match.
The FIDE Chess Olympiad, organized by FIDE, is being held in Budapest from 10 to 23 September 2024. The tournament features both open and women’s competitions.
