Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The dual system ("green" and "red") of customs corridors for passengers traveling to international destinations is canceled at the international airports of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from 11 August envisages the simplification of customs control procedures. It notes that the introduction of random checks through double corridors has accelerated the time for passing through customs control by a third. With an increase in the flow of tourists, a system of remote customs control with visual observation was introduced at some airports in the country, which further improved the situation at border points.

The “corridors” system was introduced at airports from 1 January 2018, and later at other border crossing points. Under this system, passengers not carrying goods subject to a written declaration could choose to declare verbally and use the green lane. If necessary, declarations were chosen by the "red" corridor.

The President of Uzbekistan earlier instructed to introduce a remote customs control system based on the experience of Samarkand Airport by the end of 2023 at all international airports in Uzbekistan. In this regard, the dual system at the exit is canceled, which was confirmed by the Customs Committee.

The new remote customs control system involves selective and remote visual control using a risk management system.

Customs clearance zones will be created at airports, where customs officers will provide information on the customs declaration without stopping the movement of passengers, the committee stressed.

The document also states that at international airports where the remote customs control system operates, individuals and their hand luggage are checked by customs authorities, with some exceptions. Checking of goods restricted for export or exceeding the limit norms, as well as foreign currency, is carried out only by employees of the state security service. If violations are detected, the customs authorities take the necessary measures.

Customs authorities have the right to check individuals, their hand luggage and luggage in the following cases:

- by decision of the automated system "Risk Management";

- on the basis of information from state bodies, as well as foreign customs and other bodies, international organizations;

- on operational information about violations of customs legislation.
