Uzbekistan burns 675 kilograms of drugs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 June 2011, law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan destroyed over 675 kilograms of drugs, which were seized from illegal turnover.

The event was dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is marked on 26 June.

At the blast-furnace of one of Tashkent enterprises, some 166.3 kg of heroin, 348 kg of opium and 102 kg of marihuana, 52 kg of hashish, 6.7 kg of koknar, as well as 1,880 bushes of hemp, as well as 249,000 units of psychotropic medicaments.

According to National information-analytical center on control over drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, law enforcement bodies detained 4,716.6 kg of drugs in 2010 against 3,488.2 kg in 2009.

In line with official data, Uzbekistan had destroyed 47 tonnes and 546 kg of drugs since 1994.
