Uzbekistan burns 1.65 tonnes of drugs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 June 2012, law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan destroyed over 1,650 kilograms of drugs, which were seized from illegal turnover.

The event was dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is marked on 26 June.

At the blast-furnace of one of Tashkent enterprises, some 499 kg of heroin, 597 kg of opium and 240 kg of marihuana, 302 kg of hashish, 9 kg of koknar, as well as 758 bushes of hemp, as well as large volume of psychotropic medicaments.

According to National information-analytical center on control over drugs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, law enforcement bodies detained 5,404 kg of drugs in 2011.

In line with official data, Uzbekistan had destroyed 48 tonnes and 221 kg of drugs since 1994.
