Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan became the world’s fourth buyer of gold in August 2023. This was reported by the World Gold Council.
According to the organization, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan purchased 9 tons of gold in August 2023.
China (29 tons), Poland (18 tons) and Turkey (15 tons) became the leaders in gold purchases. The list of largest gold buyers also includes Russia, India, the Czech Republic, Singapore and Kyrgyzstan.
In August, Uzbekistan suspended gold exports, according to the Uzbekistan Statistics Agency. Since the beginning of 2023, Uzbekistan has exported gold worth US$5.63 billion, which is almost double the same figure in 2022.
