Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue and tolerance in the context of the fight against hate speech, co-authored by Uzbekistan, Dunyo news agency reported.
The resolution condemns any hate propaganda that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence, whether through print, audiovisual or electronic media, social media or any other means.
Concern is expressed about the continued increase worldwide of racial and religious intolerance, discrimination and related violence, and the formation of negative racial and religious stereotypes.
In this regard, the resolution condemns any propaganda of hatred based on national, racial or religious grounds and urges states to take effective measures in accordance with their obligations to respond to and counter such cases in accordance with international law.
