Uzbekistan bans lighters, matches on aircraft board
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Aviation authorities of Uzbekistan introduced a ban for carrying out lighters and matches to board of aircrafts by passengers, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) said in a statement.

The company said quoting the State Inspection on control over security of flights of Uzbekistan that the decision was adopted to improve efficiency of aviation security at airports and enterprises of civil aviation of Uzbekistan and to implement requirements of the governmental documents.

Similar security measures have been adopted by majority of airlines of the world, including those in European and Asian states.

Uzbekistan Airways National Air Company (NAC) was founded on 28 January 1992. The airline is currently operating scheduled flights to more than 40 cities of the world, including America, Europe, Middle East, South East, Central Asia and CIS.

Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways), national airline of Uzbekistan, carried out 23,523 flights in 2010, which is 564 flights less compared to 2009.

At the same time, the airline transported over 2.16 million passengers in 2010, which is up by 14.3% year-on-year. Average load per flight rose from 78 to 92 passengers.
