Uzbek athletes clinched 13 medals at Rio Olympics, including four fold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals. At the same time, boxers clinched seven medals – 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Successful performance of Olympic team of Uzbekistan allowed it to claim 21st place in general medal classification. Among the CIS states, Uzbekistan was the second place in the general medal classification after Russia and the first among the Central Asian states.

The Uzbek athletes bagged the record number of medals, won at the Olympic Games. Prior this year, the best result of the Uzbek athletes was six medals, which they won in Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
In the result, Uzbekistan won 33 medals in Olympic Games in its history. Uzbek athletes won 9 gold, 7 silver and 17 bronze medals so far.
Uzbekistan started to participate in the Olympic Games from 1996. In Atlanta Games, Uzbek athletes won two medals – 1 silver (judo) and 1 bronze medal (boxing).
