Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan plan to integrate energy systems

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan have signed a protocol in Astana following a trilateral meeting aimed at integrating the energy systems of the three countries and establishing a "green energy" corridor from Central Asia to Europe.

The signing took place during the first meeting of the energy ministers of Central Asian countries.

Orkhan Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, announced that high-level initiatives focused on transitioning to "green energy" are planned within the framework of COP29, including the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Energy Investment Forum.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the progress made and the future steps required to create the energy corridor.

The parties also agreed on a draft Strategic Partnership Agreement in the field of "green energy" and approved the terms of reference for the project’s feasibility study (FS).

Italian company CESI was selected to develop the FS, and an agreement was reached to establish a joint venture involving the national energy companies of the participating countries.
