Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan agree to develop cooperation in transport communication
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan expressed readiness actively develop and deepen interaction in transit and transport communication, the joint declaration of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and the President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliev, signed on 27 September, said.

The sides expressed readiness actively develop and deepen interaction in transit and transport communication, create and ensure favourable terms for transport operations though air and sea ports, railway and automobile networks, located in the territories of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The declaration said that the sides will promote effective interaction in implementation of transport and communication projects, as well as through improvement of infrastructure and improving tariff systems in reviving Great Silk Road.

Presidents underlined importance of implementation of railway project “Baku-Tbilis-Kars”, as well as development of logistic centers in Baku-Alyate, Navoi and Angren, which will serve for increasing regional and inter-regional trade turnover and deepening economic cooperation.

The sides will actively stimulate cooperation in line with the agreement between the Governments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan on measures on further deepening cooperation in railway transport and development of combine transportation from 11 September 2008, the declaration said.

The leaders said that important place allocated to joint intergovernment commission on cooperation as coordinating mechanism for developing economic relations, as well as confirmed mutual interest in boosting its work.
