Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held the session on 21 January 2011 to discuss social-economic development in 2010 and important priorities of economic programme in 2011.
Speaking at the session, the Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that about 72% of investments were directed to construction of production capacities, including about 38% to purchase of equipment and technologies.
Share of foreign investments and loans in total volume of investments made up 28.8%, while the foreign direct investments exceeded US$2.4 billion, the Uzbek head said.
He said that investments for US$3.6 billion or 37.5% of all capital investments in 2010 were directed to technical and technological re-equipment.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that over 200 projects were realized within the Investment programme for 2010. In particular, Uzbekistan started production of Spark automobiles, launched Dehkanabad Potash Fertilizers Production Plant, etc.
Uzbek head said that development of transport and infrastructure took importance place in the volume of investments. He said that US$378 million of investments were directed to construction and reconstruction of automobile roads in 2009, which is 31.5% more year-on-year. He said that 270 km of roads were commissioned in 2010.
Islam Karimov said that Uzbekistan inked agreement with the Asian Development Bank to attract US$600 million to construction and reconstruction of 222 km of automobiles roads with cement concrete pavement, which is part of Uzbekistan national highway.
