Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan has signed a resolution “On Additional Measures to Elevate the Electrical Industry to a New Level of Development,” outlining key initiatives and strategies for the sector’s growth between 2025 and 2027.
Starting from 1 February 2025, new support measures will be introduced. Under the customs territory processing regime, products manufactured within processing agreements will be allowed for further processing by other manufacturers as part of industrial cooperation.
Laboratory equipment and instruments not produced in Uzbekistan will be exempt from customs duties until 1 February 2028, provided they are essential for enterprises and research centers.
Mandatory procurement policies for administrative buildings and social infrastructure projects have been established, requiring contractors to purchase goods from local producers via the Producers’ Ecosystem and the Electronic Cooperation Portal.
Electrical industry enterprises adopting advanced technologies will be granted tax benefits for up to three years, including a 0% corporate income tax rate and exemption from property taxes.
Enterprises implementing investment projects will be allowed to purchase real estate on installment plans with repayment periods of up to 10 years.
Engineering schools will be established in Jizzakh and Tashkent regions, with funding support through domestic bond issuance and eurobond placements on international capital markets.
Additionally, a new financing line, Eltechexport, will be introduced to accelerate the export of electrical products.
These measures are expected to strengthen Uzbekistan’s electrical industry, stimulate innovation, support local producers, and expand the sector’s export potential.
