Uzbekistan appoints first ambassador to Croatia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Oybek Shakhavdinov, who has been serving as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Hungary since March 2024, is now the first-ever ambassador of Uzbekistan to Croatia, with his residence in Budapest.

On 23 October, he presented copies of his credentials to Mirta Elentz Župan, head of the Protocol Department at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in Zagreb.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening Uzbek-Croatian cooperation in areas such as the economy, culture, and education.

Mirta Elentz Župan wished Oybek Shakhavdinov success in his new role and expressed confidence that his appointment would be an important step towards further developing bilateral relations.

It is noteworthy that Oybek Shakhavdinov was the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary, assuming office in March 2024. Previously, the position of Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Hungary was held by an ambassador accredited to Austria. Before that, Shakhavdinov led the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions at the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
