Uzbekistan and Yakutia strengthen tourism cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by First Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee Jamshid Abdusalomov, visited the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and held talks with regional head Aisen Nikolaev to discuss tourism development and interregional cooperation.
A key focus was the promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential as part of the "Year of Uzbekistan Tourism in Russia". Various events are being held across Russian regions to showcase Uzbekistan’s rich cultural and historical heritage and attract more visitors.
The discussions also emphasized student and school tourism development, with prospects for educational programs and exchange initiatives to help young people better understand the culture and traditions of both regions.
In 2023, Uzbekistan welcomed approximately 10.2 million foreign tourists, including 850,000 visitors from Russia. The country aims to surpass 1 million Russian tourists in 2024, reflecting growing interest in its attractions.
The negotiations between Uzbekistan and Yakutia present new opportunities for the tourism sector, fostering stronger bilateral ties and expanding travel destinations for both regions.
