Uzbekistan and World Bank representatives discuss prospects for cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Kuchkarov, held a meeting with a delegation led by Charles Cormier, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia, to discuss prospects for further collaboration.

The meeting was also attended by Tatiana Proskuryakova, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Central Asia, along with Uzbek Deputy Ministers of Economy and Finance Khurshed Mustafoev, Umid Abidhadjaev, and Samandar Sadullaev, as well as other key representatives.

Discussions focused on Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms, particularly in green economy development, expanding renewable energy use, improving energy efficiency, and modernizing the electricity infrastructure. The parties explored potential cooperation in these areas through the implementation of effective programs and projects.

A key topic was the reform of the heating sector, including the establishment of sustainable heating systems and the wider adoption of heat pumps to enhance energy efficiency. The discussions also covered successful international practices and best-in-class projects in these fields.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and taking a systematic, results-driven approach to achieving their shared objectives.
