Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 5 July, a meeting took place involving First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister Khurshed Mustafaev, and representatives of the World Bank delegation led by Senior Energy Specialist Joern Huenteler.
During the dialogue, systemic reforms in key sectors of the economy, particularly in energy, and measures to enhance the efficiency of renewable energy sources were discussed. Special attention was given to the installation of solar panels on buildings.
The parties also exchanged views on the "Innovative Use of Carbon Resources for Energy Transition" (iCRAFT) project, supported by the World Bank. The project aims to mitigate the impact of electricity tariff reforms on socially vulnerable groups and support the social protection sector.
It was noted that as part of the tariff and administrative reform in the energy sector, measures have been taken to create a competitive energy market. This is being achieved through the structural transformation of state enterprises and the involvement of the private sector.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed on further expansion and development of cooperation.
