Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Austria Bakhtiyor Ibragimov met with the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Arti Holla-Maini in Vienna. This was reported by Dunyo news agency.

The parties discussed various programs and initiatives of UNOOSA in the field of space research, the role of space technologies in solving global problems.

The parties also discussed issues of interaction between UNOOSA and the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan (UzbekCosmos Agency), as well as the existing potential for cooperation in areas such as agriculture, preventing deforestation and combating illegal mining.

Possibilities of cooperation in the use of space technologies to solve environmental problems associated with the drying of the Aral Sea, as well as aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, environmental monitoring, analysis of water resources and combating desertification, were considered.
