Uzbekistan and UNDP discuss cooperation in culture and arts
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Culture and Arts Development Foundation, and Haoliang Xu, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), took place at the UN Headquarters in New York.
During the talks, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation in culture, heritage preservation, and support for creative initiatives. Special attention was given to the development of educational programs aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan’s cultural potential, as well as the role of the arts in fostering international dialogue.
Gayane Umerova emphasized the importance of collaboration with UNDP in implementing projects that promote Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage on the global stage. In response, Haoliang Xu reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to supporting initiatives that drive sustainable development through culture and creativity.
The meeting also addressed prospects for new joint projects, including preparations for major international events. Among them are the upcoming Aral Summit in Nukus and the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, both of which will serve as significant platforms for discussions on global cultural and sustainable development issues.
Both sides expressed confidence that strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and UNDP will make a significant contribution to advancing cultural dialogue and preserving global heritage.
