Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The further expansion of practical cooperation and the promotion of investment projects were discussed during a meeting between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a delegation from the United Arab Emirates, which included Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei.
Sultan Al Jaber conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Prime Minister of the country and Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and the UAE have reached the highest level in modern times. The volumes of mutual trade, the number of joint ventures, and the frequency of flights have all grown. The portfolio of current and prospective projects involving leading Emirati companies in Uzbekistan has reached $20 billion.
Special attention was given to "green" energy. In particular, a 500-megawatt wind power station in the Navoi region, implemented by Masdar, was commissioned. In recent years, with the participation of this company, electricity generation facilities with a total capacity of 1.5 gigawatts have been commissioned in Uzbekistan.
The meeting also discussed the preparation and implementation of large investment projects in the energy, oil and gas, chemical industries, mining, water supply, waste processing, and other sectors.
The importance of continuing productive contacts at all levels and thorough preparations for upcoming high-level events was highlighted, which will significantly strengthen bilateral relations and enhance the effectiveness of joint projects.
