Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the 81st meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states, a meeting took place between Z. Narzullaev, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways, and Azat Atamuradov, Chairman of the Turkmenistan Railways Agency.
The meeting focused on discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the railway sector.
The parties addressed several key issues aimed at developing railway connections between the two countries.
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan plan to increase the volume of freight transported by rail. Both sides agreed to extend the existing tariffs for railway transportation.
Joint efforts are planned for the modernization and renewal of the freight and passenger carriage fleet.
To boost transit transport, the parties agreed to introduce more competitive tariffs for railway transportation.
In addition, Azat Atamuradov congratulated Z. Narzullaev and all employees of Uzbekistan Railways on the 30th anniversary of the company’s establishment.
This meeting represents an important step in developing transport links between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Strengthening railway cooperation promises to open new opportunities for trade development and regional integration.
