Uzbekistan and Türkiye discussed cooperation in the field of agriculture

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov, who is currently in Türkiye, held a number of meetings with representatives of Turkish companies and organizations.

The meetings took place within the framework of the Uzbek-Turkish business forum in Ankara, which was organized on the eve of the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Türkiye.

The minister met with Ibrahim Aydin, a member of the board of the Turkish company Salurbey Group.

Salurbey Group specializes in the development of livestock farming and the construction of large livestock complexes.

Minister Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov spoke about the opportunities for investors in Uzbekistan, the attention paid to food security and the agricultural sector, as well as the prospects for implementing agricultural projects within the framework of cooperation.

During the meeting, proposals were made for cooperation not only in the field of livestock farming, but also in other areas of the agro-industrial complex, including leather processing, production of dairy and meat products.

The Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan also met with the Director of the Turkish Seed Gene Bank, Humeira Yaman.

The meeting discussed the activities of gene banks in both countries, the current geopolitical situation in the world, as well as the role of such gene banks in ensuring food security in the face of the negative consequences of climate change.

Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov paid special attention to the prospects for cooperation between institutions of both countries in increasing the diversity of seed varieties and further enriching the gene bank, having familiarized himself with the work of the Turkish seed gene bank, the seeds stored here and the scientific research carried out.

It was also noted that in April of this year, as a result of cooperation between the seed gene banks of the two countries, seminars and trainings were organized for Uzbek specialists, and an agreement was reached on the further development of such cooperation in the future.
