Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The General Consul of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, Aslam Akbarov, met with Vasily Potemkin, Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region of Russia for Economics, Investment Policy, and Property Relations, Dunyo news agency reported.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Tomsk Region, as well as the outcomes of the visit by a delegation from the Tomsk Region to Uzbekistan in November 2024, led by Governor Vladimir Mazur.
The Russian side emphasized that Uzbekistan is one of the key partners of the Tomsk Region in trade, economy, and scientific-technical fields, which significantly influences the development of relations between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia as a whole.
The positive results of the delegation’s visit were also noted, confirming mutual interest not only in developing existing areas of cooperation but also in formulating key aspects of long-term economic collaboration.
Among the agreements reached were the establishment of production for thermoplastic polymer compositions in Uzbekistan and the supply of equipment produced at the Tomsk Electromechanical Plant to the enterprises of Uzkimyosanoat Joint-Stock Company and others.
A proposal was made to organize a visit by an Uzbek delegation to Tomsk at the end of February or early March 2025 to further discuss cooperation in these areas.
Special attention was given to attracting specialists from Uzbekistan to various enterprises in the Tomsk Region. The Deputy Governor noted that representatives from Uzbekistan are making significant contributions to the region’s economic development and interregional cooperation.
Additionally, the Russian side expressed the need to attract experienced seamstresses from Uzbekistan to work in the region’s sewing and textile industries.
In conclusion, an agreement was reached to hold regular meetings with the leadership of the Tomsk Region to assess the progress of trade and economic cooperation and collaboration in the field of labor migration.
