Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan with representatives of the World Bank to discuss projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in the centralized heating system and financing solar panels in Uzbekistan through technical assistance.
The meeting was attended by senior energy specialist at the World Bank Irina Voytekhovich, World Bank consultants Bhattacharji Kanti and Talgat Khudoybergenov, as well as representatives from the Transition and Green Economy Development Coordination Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.
The main topic of discussion was the work carried out as part of a technical mission supporting the project to improve energy efficiency in the heating system and the solar panel financing program. Special attention was given to the technical and economic assessment aimed at decarbonizing Uzbekistan’s heating system by 2050, which includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the internal infrastructure of buildings.
World Bank representatives emphasized the importance of having qualified personnel for operating new equipment in local heating companies, which is a key factor for the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of the project.
During the discussion, preliminary results in sustainable heating and cooling were reviewed, and long-term decarbonization strategies aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and introducing clean heating solutions in Uzbekistan were discussed.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to accelerate joint efforts for the implementation of projects within the framework of the "green" economy.
