Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, met with Peter Young, USAID Director for Central Asia, Olga Kalashnikova, Senior Officer in the South and Central Asia Office, and Ani Berk, Head of Communications with the state of Hewlett Packard (HP).
During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States in the field of IT outsourcing and the development of the digital economy of Uzbekistan were discussed. It was noted that in recent years, the export of remote jobs in Uzbekistan has tripled annually, reaching $344 million last year.
To further develop this area, possible joint projects with USAID and HP were discussed. Uzbekistan also expressed interest in promoting its image as a reliable destination for IT outsourcing together with American companies, as well as creating conditions for attracting foreign investment in the IT sector.
Opportunities for cooperation in the educational field were also discussed, including support for projects on education and training of IT specialists, modernization of infrastructure and the use of advanced technologies in the field of education and labor.
