Uzbekistan and the USA discuss funding for transport infrastructure development projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held a meeting with Helain Matza, Acting Special Coordinator of the U.S. Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment.

During the discussion, the parties addressed the attraction of private financing for projects related to the development of transport infrastructure, geology, and digitalization.

This initiative was proposed by the USA at the G7 summit in June 2022 and aims to mobilize investments to develop quality infrastructure in developing countries.

The USA plans to allocate up to US$200 billion over five years through grants, federal funding, and private sector investments, while G7 countries aim to contribute up to US$600 billion. The initiative also involves the World Bank and private investment companies such as BlackRock, Brookfield, and Global Infrastructure Partners.

Additionally, there was a constructive exchange of views on a wide range of current bilateral cooperation issues, including investments and the implementation of joint initiatives.

The meeting concluded with a firm commitment to further deepen and expand cooperation in all discussed areas of bilateral interaction.
