Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 April, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan began a visit to the United States, consisting of representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Academy of the Prosecutor General’s Office, law enforcement agencies and anti-corruption agencies.

The main purpose of the visit is to establish direct contacts with anti-corruption authorities and other relevant US organizations, as well as to discuss the prospects for further cooperation.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation met with Robert Cordy, a partner at the Massachusetts-based law firm McDermott Will & Emery, and Sarah Walters and Mark Schreiber, experts with extensive experience in overseeing US law enforcement corruption investigations.

It should be noted that McDermott Will & Emery is one of the largest international law firms operating in the US and around the world, and the firm’s lawyers represent the interests of the public and private sectors, industrial and financial sectors.

During the meeting, the American side provided useful information on the specifics of the consideration of cases of corruption, the work of law enforcement agencies and supervision of investigations of corruption crimes.

The parties exchanged views on a number of issues, including aspects that should be taken into account as preventive measures to reduce the number of corruption offenses, effective measures taken by the state to combat corruption, as well as the role of modern information technologies in preventing corruption.
