Uzbekistan and the UN Discuss Prospects for Further Digitalization Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's Minister for Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a meeting with the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Sabina Mahl.

The meeting focused on leveraging digital technologies to achieve sustainable development goals. Important information was also shared regarding the UN Public Service Forum, which is set to be held in Samarkand in 2025.

Hosting the forum for the first time in Uzbekistan is seen as a significant achievement for the country, underscoring the importance of this opportunity to accelerate the digital transformation process.

Discussions also covered the delivery of digital services to remote regions, creating equal opportunities through technology, providing decent jobs for youth and low-income families via digital services, and enhancing digital knowledge and skills.

It was emphasized that creating high-paying jobs in the IT sector is a priority, and measures to expand IT training programs, increase access to international certifications, and prepare local youth for the global digital economy were also discussed.

The meeting further addressed the need for systematic work to expand export opportunities for talented young people from remote regions of Uzbekistan through online platforms.

Additionally, issues related to the accessibility of digital services for people with disabilities, development of international cooperation, and sharing of global experiences were discussed.

Sabina Mahl highlighted the support that the UN provides to Uzbekistan in achieving sustainable development goals through digital technologies and expressed willingness to continue cooperation with Uzbekistan.
