Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting in Geneva with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Martin Chungong.
During the negotiations, the discussions focused on cooperation between the parliament of Uzbekistan and the IPU, as well as future plans.
In particular, they discussed preparations for the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan in 2025.
During the dialogue, Mr. Chungong noted that Uzbekistan has achieved tremendous results in development in a short period. He emphasized that holding the 150th anniversary Assembly of the IPU in Tashkent will be a logical continuation of fruitful inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The conversation highlighted that the 150th Assembly will hold historical significance, showcasing the exemplary features of the Uzbek parliament’s experience to other nations.
Additionally, the discussions centered on further strengthening the parliament’s position on issues related to gender equality, social protection, and the protection of human rights, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals.
