Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discuss expansion of digital cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 May 2025, a delegation from the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, led by Chairman Isfandiyor Saidullo, visited the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and IT Park Uzbekistan to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the digital sphere.
During the visit, the Tajik delegation was briefed on ongoing digital reforms, core priorities, and strategic plans of the Ministry and IT Park. The guests also toured the Ustudy IT Academy, which trains IT specialists; the UZSOC Cybersecurity Center; and the national IT integrator UZINFOCOM. Particular attention was given to developments in artificial intelligence and digital solutions.
A central part of the visit was the official meeting between Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and the Tajik delegation. The two sides exchanged views on removing cooperation barriers, launching new joint initiatives, and enhancing existing partnerships.
Key discussion points included collaboration with Tojiktelecom, improving cross-border telecommunications, and handling outbound internet traffic. Both sides agreed to establish working groups of technical experts and to engage in regular information exchanges to address emerging issues.
The parties also explored opportunities to expand the presence of Uzbek IT companies in Tajikistan, boost exports of digital services, and foster inter-technopark cooperation. Practical proposals were made to promote IT Park Uzbekistan residents' services in Tajikistan and to develop joint incubation and acceleration programs.
Another priority was the creation of new opportunities for Tajik startups, attracting investment, and supporting their entry into global platforms. The possibility of including Tajik startups in Uzbek acceleration programs and international forums was also discussed.
In addition, it was agreed that Tajikistan would participate in major international events such as the UN Public Service Forum in Samarkand and ICT Week Uzbekistan, scheduled for 23–25 September in Tashkent.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in digital technologies, telecommunications, and innovation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
