Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 November 2024, an Educational Day took place in Tashkent as part of the "Swiss Days" event, focused on opportunities for Uzbekistanis to study at Swiss schools and universities.
The event was organized by the Swiss Learning association with support from the Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan and SGE. Thirteen leading Swiss private schools and universities presented their academic programs, as well as summer and winter camps, and higher education opportunities in fields such as hospitality, finance, and information technology.
Over 100 tourism and educational agencies from Uzbekistan attended, noting a growing interest among citizens in pursuing education in Switzerland.
Education as the Foundation for Sustainable Development
One of the main topics of discussion was the shared values between Switzerland and Uzbekistan in human capital development. Education is recognized as a key factor in the economic and social progress of both countries.
The director of Swiss Learning highlighted the increasing interest of Uzbekistanis in Swiss education: "The interest of Uzbekistanis in education in Switzerland is steadily growing. Currently, dozens of students from Uzbekistan are studying at Swiss schools and universities. What attracts them most is the high level of education and comprehensive development.
In addition to academic subjects, students learn creativity and arts, study cutting-edge technologies like AI and robotics, and engage in sports ranging from equestrianism to basketball. A unique feature of Swiss education is its practical orientation: high school students apply their knowledge to solve real-world industrial challenges."
Innovation and Practicality at the Core of Swiss Education
Swiss education focuses on integrating theory with practice, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-life situations, significantly enhancing their competitiveness in the labor market.
"Swiss boarding schools create unique conditions for the all-round development of students: creativity, independent thinking, working in a multicultural environment, and learning multiple languages – all of which contribute to the successful integration of graduates into the global society. Swiss educational standards are gradually being introduced into Uzbekistan’s education system.
The International Baccalaureate (IB), established in Switzerland, which has become a benchmark, is already adopted by several private schools in Tashkent and is gaining popularity each year," said Philippe de Korodi, director of College de Champittet.
Swiss Learning Awards and the 2024 Winner
A special part of the event was the Swiss Learning Awards ceremony, which is awarded annually for promoting Swiss education abroad. In 2024, the winner was Nikki Hafizi, head of the MESCA (Medical Excellence and Science in Central Asia) foundation, which supports medical research and improves healthcare access in Central Asia.
