Uzbekistan and South Korea to jointly build "dry ports"

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and South Korea will jointly design "dry ports," according to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.

Representatives from the Center for Transport and Logistics Development Studies held negotiations with a delegation from the Department of Port Investments of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea.

The main topic of the meeting was cooperation in the development of logistics infrastructure.

In particular, the discussion focused on developing a feasibility study (FS) for a project to create land-based ports and inland terminals in the Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions.

The feasibility study is expected to be presented in September 2025.

The request for this project was submitted in March 2024, and its implementation is anticipated to significantly improve Uzbekistan’s logistics infrastructure, enhancing its role as a key transportation hub in Central Asia and attracting new investments to the region.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a framework agreement for joint development of the feasibility study for the "dry ports" projects in the mentioned regions.
