Uzbekistan and South Korea discuss increasing flights and transport projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, held talks with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan, Won Doyeon, and the head of the Korea Eximbank representative office in Tashkent, Sangjin Kang.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current state and future prospects of transport cooperation, with a particular focus on increasing the number of regular flights between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
The Uzbek minister presented a series of infrastructure projects related to the reconstruction and construction of highways, inviting Korean companies to explore opportunities for participation.
The head of Korea Eximbank’s representative office provided updates on the ongoing project to supply six Hyundai Rotem electric trains for Uzbekistan Railways (Uzbekiston Temir Yullari) and reaffirmed the bank’s interest in financing other transport initiatives in Uzbekistan.
Ambassador Won Doyeon emphasized Uzbekistan’s strategic importance as a key partner for South Korea, particularly in the transport sector. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Korean side invited representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport to participate in the Korea-Central Asia International Forum, scheduled for the second half of this year.
