Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 31 October, the Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, Umid Shadiev, met with Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side provided the Russian delegation with a detailed overview of the extensive reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. New tourist destinations and their opportunities, as well as potential development directions, were presented.
Particular attention was given to the "Program for Cooperation to Increase Tourist Flow between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2025-2026," signed in May this year during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan.
The parties emphasized the importance of implementing the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries and expressed their readiness to work together to increase mutual tourist flows. It was noted that the intergovernmental program in this area should be implemented as effectively as possible.
Dmitry Chernyshenko praised the changes in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, highlighting Russia’s interest in further expanding cooperation in this area. He also expressed support for measures aimed at increasing the tourist flow to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on attracting business circles and investors from both countries to promising investment projects in the tourism sector.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage "Silk Road" and the Russian State University of Tourism and Service.
This document aims to strengthen collaboration in training personnel and conducting research in the tourism business, develop joint educational programs, hold international conferences, symposiums, and round tables, and promote the development of student tourism between Uzbekistan and Russia.
