Uzbekistan and Russia to discuss labor migrants’ rights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan has traveled to Russia to discuss issues related to labor migration and the protection of migrants’ rights, according to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The delegation includes representatives from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the State Security Service, the Agency for External Labor Migration, and other government bodies. They will participate in the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group.
As of early April 2025, more than 6.5 million foreigners were residing in Russia, with about ten percent of them staying in the country illegally.
According to the "Migrant Service" platform, around 55% of labor migrants in Russia are from Uzbekistan, and another 40% are from Tajikistan.
