Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, held talks with Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, at the X BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg.
The discussions focused on the prospects for developing interparliamentary relations and further expanding regional cooperation.
At the beginning of the conversation, it was particularly noted that the relations between the leaders of the two countries are unique—friendly and based on mutual trust, with the ties between the countries being of an all-encompassing strategic partnership nature.
During the dialogue, there was also an exchange of views on enriching economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation with practical content.
The necessity of actively using the mechanisms of parliamentary diplomacy to implement agreements and trade-economic projects reached between Uzbekistan and Russia was emphasized, as well as promoting effective cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
The parties agreed to actively continue cooperation within the framework of international interparliamentary organizations, particularly the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
