Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On Wednesday, key documents were signed in Tashkent that define the development of military cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan: the 2025 Defense Ministries’ Interaction Plan and the Strategic Partnership Program in the Military Sector for 2026-2030.
The agreements were signed by the defense ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan, Andrey Belousov and Shukhrat Khamukhamedov.
The cooperation plan for 2025 outlines 50 joint activities covering all key areas of military cooperation between the two countries’ defense ministries.
The partnership between Moscow and Tashkent plays a significant role in ensuring stability and security in the Central Asian region.
Russia’s Defense Minister noted that "Russia and Uzbekistan are strategic partners and time-tested friends." According to him, the level of mutual understanding between the countries is high, and cooperation continues to develop dynamically.
"In today’s international environment, this is of particular importance. The leadership of Russia and Uzbekistan is paying close attention to strengthening ties between our countries’ security agencies. Our joint efforts serve as an important factor in the security of Central Asia, and today’s negotiations are seen as a step forward in this direction," emphasized Andrey Belousov.
At the beginning of the meeting, he expressed his pleasure at meeting his Uzbek counterpart and thanked him for the invitation to visit Tashkent, highlighting the warm hospitality.
"Let me once again congratulate you on your appointment as the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan and wish you success in this important mission," he addressed Shukhrat Khamukhamedov.
Andrey Belousov also mentioned that the Russian delegation that arrived in Tashkent included leaders of specialized organizations dealing with military and military-technical cooperation matters.
The Russian Defense Minister expressed confidence that today’s meeting would mark the beginning of a new stage in defense cooperation between the two countries.
