Uzbekistan and Russia hold the first meeting of the working group on labor migration issues

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Russia held the first meeting of the interagency working group on labor migration issues and migrant rights protection.

The meeting took place in Moscow from 28 to 29 April, at the invitation of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Igor Krasnov.

The Uzbek delegation, led by Deputy Prosecutor General Shokhrukh Aminov, included representatives from various ministries and agencies.

The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Petr Gorodov, and included representatives from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Federal Security Service, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, and other agencies.

During the meeting, current issues in the migration sphere and ways to address them were discussed. The parties agreed on developing joint solutions aimed at ensuring the rule of law in the migration sphere, considering the interests of both countries.

The Prosecutor General’s Offices of both countries committed to enhancing supervision and control over the protection of the rights of Uzbek citizens working in Russia and Russian citizens working in Uzbekistan.

At the conclusion of the event, the heads of the delegations signed a protocol reflecting the decisions made during the first meeting of the interagency working group. The signed protocol will be placed under special supervision by the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Uzbekistan and Russia.
