Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting of the bilateral working group took place in Tashkent, comprising representatives from the ministries of foreign and internal affairs of Uzbekistan, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Agency for External Labor Migration, and the Russian Embassy.

The negotiations were held within the framework of the implementation of the presidential decree of Uzbekistan, dated 17 October 2024, aimed at streamlining labor migration processes. This was reported by Dunyo news agency.

The meeting was attended by Artem Antokhin, Director of the International Center for Language Testing and Educational Training for Migrants at the Russian Peoples’ Friendship University, Andrey Kolesnikov, Head of the RUDN Representative Office, and Oleg Kostyuk, Advisor to the General Director of the Russian state-owned company "Passport and Visa Service."

The parties discussed the possibility of transferring certain migration procedures to Uzbekistan, including medical examinations and Russian language exams, to be held at Russian university branches in Tashkent.

Special attention was given to the issue of resuming operations of the "Passport and Visa Service" representative office and the branch of the Multifunctional Migration Center "Sakharovo" in the capital of Uzbekistan. The organization of centers for language exam preparation was also discussed, including courses in the Russian language, history, and the basics of Russian legislation.

Additionally, the parties considered the prospect of establishing a specialized medical clinic under the "Gemetest" brand in Uzbekistan for medical examinations and laboratory tests, as well as the possibility of involving Russian teachers and vocational training instructors in preparing local specialists who will later be involved in training labor migrants.

The Russian side expressed its readiness to positively consider the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan's request to resume the activities of the "Passport and Visa Service" representative office in Tashkent.

The parties also agreed to invite representatives from the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and the Tashkent office of the Multifunctional Migration Center "Sakharovo" to the next working group meeting. The discussed initiatives are planned to be included in the agenda of the Uzbek-Russian interdepartmental working group meeting, which will be held in Moscow from April 27 to 30.
