Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 September 2024, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, held a meeting with representatives of Rothschild & Co, led by Ariel Mallerde Rothschild, a member of the board of directors.

The meeting was attended by Giovanni Salvetti, Director and Head of CIS at Rothschild & Co, Simon Bard, Consultant on Restructuring and Financing, and Oleg Pushkarev, Director for CIS.

From the Uzbek side, the meeting included Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibaev, Chairman of the Board of O’zsanoatqurilishbank Aziz Akbarjonov, and other responsible officials.

The discussions covered economic processes in the country, including phased reforms, transition to market principles in the energy sector, results of reforms, improvements in the banking and financial sector, privatization of state banks, and transformation of companies in the mining sector.

The parties exchanged experiences on bank privatization and discussed Rothschild & Co’s activities in Uzbekistan, as well as opportunities for further collaboration.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to develop mutual cooperation and systematic work to achieve the set goals.
